John Horne is a historian of modern France and also the First World War. He has just retired as Professor of Modern European History at Trinity College Dublin. He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and visiting Leverhulme Professor at Oxford University. He serves on the French commission for the Centenary of the Great War and the research centre of the Historial de la Grande Guerre, a museum of the war on the former battlefield of the Somme. He has published widely on the First World War and is keen to learn more about its impact on India and India’s role in it.
