Padmashri Alyque Padamsee is a renowned Theatre Director who has directed over 76 Plays. Among them Shakespeare’s greatest dramas like Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, The Taming of the Shrew etc.
He studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London; and was one of the founders of the Indian Academy of Dramatic Arts Bombay. He was awarded the Padmashri in 1999 for his work in the Theatre. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Theatre from the Sangeet Natak Akademi India, and over half dozen other Lifetime Achievement Awards for his Theatre work.
He is the author of “A Double Life” covering his work in Theatre and Advertising which is prescribed in Business Schools all over India. He conducts Drama workshops in Bombay, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Goa, Chennai, and also in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Internationally he is well-known for his portrayal of Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Sir Richard Attenborough’s film GANDHI.
